Default Are blue laws around to make sure churches have a monopoly on Sunday-morning wine...

...consumption?
Of course, that'd be weird here, because our blue laws are for off-premise only.

Blue laws are a twisted version of "If you can't beat 'em join 'em."

Here, however, the "beat 'em" part is literal and the the "join 'em" part is replaced by Blue Laws.

Blue laws were an attempt to make people behave in a particular fashion. It's like the old saying goes, "a lock only keeps an honest man out."

If laws like that were really effective, then murder would never happen because it's illegal everywhere.

It's up to each person to change his or her heart.

I remember when Oregon repealed the blue laws and liquor stores could be open on Sundays. Most did not, because they already had their schedules worked out and wanted Sunday off, just like everyone else.
