Default Please describe Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio?

I know I am being ridiculous ... but please try?

The reason I am asking is that I just found a recipe for Zeppole and it reminds me of what I heard about an Italian family: whilst making dinner they spent the whole afternoon in the kitchen, eating up big bowls of Zeppole that the teenage girls of the family were making while everyone else cooked more serious things ....and they all were drinking Pinot Noir ....

Does this sound like a good idea ?
It sounds good to me !

grazie

p.s. what is Pinot Grigio, pls?

Hmm... Zeppole are like Italian doughnuts...just a little different.

Fried dough + red wine...sounds about right.

Pinot Grigio is a white wine made from a mutated form of the Pinot Noir grapes. Pinot Grigio is one of a handful of white wines made from red grapes. Also called Pinot Gris.

Pinot Noir (Nero in Italian) in harder to make, and is daintly. Originated from Burgundy, France, is now produced in other regions of France and Italy (northern and Tuscany) and also in California.

Pinot Gris (Grigio) is a mutation of Pinot Noir (pinot is a variety of grapes, by the way); is a very succesfull wine, although in theory the quality is lower compared to Noir. Still, is from northern Italy, an appreciated variety is from Alsace, France, good quality also from Hungary.

There also are Pinot Meunier (from France) and Pino Bianco, originated from Germany, is spreaded in France, Italy, Germany, North and South America and Australia. Sometimes (more in the past than today) called "Pinot-Chardonnay".

But... for zeppole (like ofr any kind of dessert) *white* whine is a lot better! Especially sparkling wine or spumante.

Pinot Noir is a light red wine made famous by the Burgundy region of France but now found worldwide. It translates to "black pinecone".

Pinot Grigio is a softer, white grape originally from Italy and still made the best there, preferably Friuli fruit but it's made in just about every country now. It's light and crisp which is why it's showing incredible popularity right now with beginners to wine.
